Urunga and Sawell

Urunga

Went to the Art gallery space and spoke with a lovely lady about her passion for art and her love for allowing artists to share their creativity in unique ways. It was mostly local artists showcasing their creative pieces for visitors to see.

Visited the incredible Urunga boardwalk and walked to the end and turned right to the last headland, which was Hungry head beach. There were just a few people out there and the ocean was wild, but so beautiful to swim in with not in soul inside. There were water holes and the opposite side was the lake with RVs parked and people swimming inside. I had hiked up to viewpoint and saw the sky changing. I knew it was going to rain and I was racing back to the boardwalk. This kind woman with her dog said,”Don’t worry you will make it.” And I did.

How I manage to get beautiful weather and escape the rain.

As I arrived into town and was finished with my day was when it started pouring and I saw a rainbow sitting at the bus stop. I decided to order some fish and chips that were totally disappointing- I have the worst luck with food.

The bus back from Urunga after the rain was so pleasant and I came back the hotel to play board games with my friends and watch the rain fall….It was raining off and on for the days I had been there, but after the rain was when the clouds were alive and the lush green grass was shining amongst the Belligen river. It was spectacular being on the bus and just relaxing…..

Sawtell

Athena and I went for some morning shopping as she was leaving to Byron Bay that same day. The town of Belligen was full of boutiques with lots of clothing that you could buy in India, Nepal, Bali, Thailand, or Vietnam for a third of the price.

I wanted to go check out Camp Creative, but I decided I would go to Sawtell after my 2 hours of work and boy am I glad I made that decision!

Sawtell was a beachside city near to Taormina Gardens where they had a Coles and Woodworth store-the two most shopped stores in all of Australia where you can get all kinds of meats, dairy, snacks, Asian foods/international, Fresh bakery, and a wide variety of cheese, meats etc. It is a shopping wonderland and I loved it. Plus the Aldi was great too.

I had directions from the driver to walk to the beach just 30 minutes up the hill. It was more like up a hill to the left, to the right, past the train tracks, through the suburbs, up another hill, and Voila you arrive at the most beautiful beach.

I stopped a "Surf shop/Coffee shop" to hide away from the sun, which was really strong that day. I met a local guy and asked him for the direction of the beach.

He ended up paying for his surfboard repair and gave me a ride. He was explaining that the bus system is not the way to get around the coast-that was accurate for sure. I did not get his name, but he was so kind driving me up to the view point and asking me where I wanted to be dropped off. He got out of the car to show me the direction of Belligen, Urunga, and the three different beaches.
He was concerned about me getting back and I said, "Don't worry I will be fine and I always was...somehow and someway God was always on my side watching over me.

There was a big overcrowded water hole and I decided to hang out by the surfers where the current was strong, but the water, warm, clean, and glistening. It was always these three or four beaches just molding into one leaving water holes and different places to swim.

As I walked up, the same man who asked me where I was from was standing at the top of the hill. His wife was giving me a lecture about going out into the beach without a lifeguard.

Apparently, 55 tourists had been killed from the current as they did not know the water or the area where they were swimming.

I wanted to say to her, "Lady I am not afraid of a current and if I was swept up by waves maybe I would be grateful."

I felt fearless to travel, to death, and to risk. I knew that whatever would happen was in God's plan and not my own.

We parted ways and I went for a glass of wine at Sawtell hotel, had some great mediterranean meal, and ran for the bus to catch it just in time while picking up a bottle of wine for my current group of friends.

I told Derek I would pick up wine as I ate his Tim tam cookies and he sometimes was sharing small things with me.

David had offered to come share dinner with me and pick me up, but I did not want him to drive so far just to come get me after a long day at work.

While I was riding the bus, I asked the driver.

"What is going on with the public transport here and why is there never anyone on the bus when I'm riding?"

He said, "the public transport is not good here and I am much better off with a car."

He was sharing some other stories with me, which I forgot but he did communicate with the second bus to wait because I was coming.

When I arrived, the second bus was waiting just for me and that made me feel special.

I had managed to escape the rain again and when I returned to the hotel-it started to pour and Derek and I shared some win on the patio. I went into the sauna and had a cold shower-that is not just a trending thing, but truly is great for the body. It makes my skin so smooth and gives me such great sleep. It is fantastic! Take cold water showers as much as possible people! Your skin and body will be so grateful and you will see results for sure.

The family visiting were there for 5 days with 3 teenagers and the mother was a social worker from Brisbane. The mother was a bit annoying and demanding, but she was a nice person at heart. Her husband had great conversation, good energy, and a nice personality-very positive and uplifting. They were great to talk with and spend time with after my day adventures.
