The Time of Our Life

I arrived back to the accommodation and I mentioned to my new Australian couple that there was a trivia night and he said, “Alright Priscilla you want to go and I happily said, “Yes.”

I did not expect them to invite me as I just wanted to tell them what was happening, but they did and I was very happy about it.

They had live music on one side and trivia on the other. We could not find a spot for trivia so just had a seat outside next to another couple who were also visiting in town. Kris and Chris-both the RV van life couple in their early 70s. Chris loves to surf and travel all around Australia and says he lives on the road. There is no specific destination he calls home, but it is wherever he lays his head in the evening. Both couples had a lot of similarities and were discussing their neighborhoods and how much they loved to travel. No matter what the topic was I never ever felt left out as they included me in the conversation. The strong Australian accent was sometimes a little difficult to follow, but I carried on quite well I think(Australian). They were making jokes, teaching me slang, and talking about travel. It was mostly a lot of talk about Australia and their culture, which I absolutely loved learning and it was comical and ironic how similar their romantic relationships were to one another. Neither of them were married, but neither of them wanted to be. They just seemed so content with the way things were and Patrick absolutely adored Deborah. He treated her like a princess in every way and that was so lovely to see.

Deborah, Patrick, and I shared some Pinio grigio and Kris and Chris had a fantastic red they were sharing. We just kept up the laughs with the “Cheers” and it was incredibly enjoyable.

After I endured such sadness in the 40 year old depression, I did not need to just smile rather I needed to laugh to the fullest extent almost falling off my chair. We all just had this genuine admiration for one another, conversation was so smooth and easygoing, and there was not one disagreement or intense conversation about politics or something negative.

Deborah had an adorable service dog named Ruby who helped him with his Severe depression and anxiety. Ruby was the cutest dog and the most patient with all our laughing and chit chat-I actually forgot she was there most of the time.

We listened to the band play “Pretty woman” and all kinds of lovely blues and jazz songs. All of us really had “The Time of our Life.” We just talked about how wonderful it was over and over again and those types of nights make traveling worth it……BUT there was one hiccup…just one and that was the FROG

When I’m traveling, I can behave as a small child at times being excited from things whether big or small. If I see a cute animal or child, my voice will get high pitched and I will be shouting “How cute.”

As we were sitting and enjoying ourselves, Deborah pointed out “Look there is a frog on the fence.” She went over to take a photo and I followed her just totally focused on this cute green frog. I was not paying any attention AT ALL and stepped up on a wet deck with flip flops(I am not a person who wears flip flops-it is very rare) BUT we were just walking 50 meters across from the accommodation-what could go wrong?

I stepped up and fell down forward onto both of my knees and both my elbows. Immediately, Patrick came to help me up and I acted like everything was fine and got to see the frog!

Was seeing this frog worth a bruised left knee, a right knee scraped, and a left elbow bruised? Not at all and how I managed to fall on both elbows and knees is really a mystery. A person usually falls on one side of their body or on one knee….What a bad fall and I was so excited because I was just starting to run again and get back into my run/walk routine.  Ughhhh

I told everyone the night was so great that it was all worth the fall-I will recover as I am titanium😊
