Dinner and Cricket
After a day of exploring the small city of Gracev a city built by William Taylor with a cute Regal cinema, a nice deli, Lick Gelato, cafes, and restaurants. I stopped by Hunter and Scott for a blueberry muffin and a latte with coconut milk. They were not very friendly first telling me that it was only available for Take away and then I came back and found a whole beautiful back patio. The girl invited me to sit in back, but the other one was not so friendly-a slight pretty woman moment, which has happened a lot the past year or so.
It was an adorable city and I loved Hunter and Scott- I definitely wanted to revisit. I went back to the mall to do some shopping, which was decently successful and I loved the Big Coles grocery store that was perfectly cleaned and stocked all the time. The one by where I am staying was pretty sad.
I was going to see a movie alone-one of my favorite things to do while traveling, but I decided to head back and hang out with Steven. He had the crock pot going in the morning so I knew he was cooking. Lucas was at work so it was just the two of us having dinner together, which was nice because I had no idea what to talk to a 17 year old kid about rather I just wanted the Adult time.
He was really a wealth of information talking to me about the history of the Aborighinese people. They feel like they were robbed of their land and this causes them to be violent and hostile. It reminded me of the BLM movement in the US. People who are black always recall past events, talk about slavery, and how they were so opresseed. This mentality doesn't get any of them ahead focusing on the past rather it is best to focus on the present and how to improve the image of their people and fight for their current rights. They are very disatissfied with Australian day as their rights were taken away from them by the British. It's a very conficting day for the nation where people support and many are against it.
We will see what happens with that..,but in the meantime Steven and I were having some great laughs sharing experiences from our cultural exchange sit and how people can be so inconsiderate, cheap, and secretive by not disclosing their real reason for traveling. A French guest of his got involved with the wrong guy and he ended up selling all her stuff and going back to France. The guests in Sydney brought a boyfriend without even propelry asking to stay and it was never discussed to her. Steve said he was part of the "Pub Choire," which was led by Astrgin J. She was a wonderful powerful leader having people dance of all types of age
